A fixed system is designed rather than bought: detector placement follows gas density, ventilation paths and the location of likely leak sources, so a heavier-than-air gas is detected near floor level while methane is detected high. Detectors report to a controller that drives alarms and shutdowns, which makes the interface to the plant control system part of the specification. Expect to supply a layout drawing rather than only a quantity.
