Aluminium is bought as an alloy and a temper together, and quoting one without the other describes almost nothing. The alloy determines what the metal is good at — one family is chosen for marine corrosion resistance and weldability, another for machined strength, another for formability — and the temper determines how hard it currently is, which is what decides whether it will bend or crack at the radius your part needs. A sheet in a hard temper of a very weldable alloy can still be unusable for the fold you had in mind. The second thing that belongs in the enquiry is what the aluminium will touch. In coastal air, aluminium in direct contact with steel or stainless forms a galvanic couple and the aluminium corrodes, sometimes quickly, which is why isolating washers, tapes and sleeves are part of the design rather than an afterthought.
