The hasp is the piece that makes group isolation work. One isolation point can take only one padlock, but a job may involve six people, and the rule is that each of them applies and removes their own lock β so the hasp turns a single point into six lock holes, and the isolation cannot be released until the last person has taken theirs off. That is the whole mechanism, and the practical questions follow from it. How many people work on the largest job, since that sets the hole count and whether hasps need to be daisy-chained. What the jaw has to close around, since a hasp that will not fit the isolation device is useless. And whether the hasp must be non-conductive, which it should be anywhere it is applied inside electrical equipment. Buy a size up on hole count: hasps that are exactly the size of today's crew get chained together in ways nobody designed.
