    Anti-Seize Compounds

Sourced and supplied across Saudi Arabia

Anti-seize does something to a bolted joint that is easy to overlook and expensive to ignore: it changes the friction between the threads, so the same torque produces a much higher bolt tension than it would on a dry thread. On a joint where preload matters — a flange, a cylinder head, a structural connection — applying anti-seize and then tightening to the dry-thread torque figure overtightens the bolt, and it can be yielded or broken by a procedure everyone believes they followed correctly. If the compound is used, the torque figure has to come from the procedure that assumes it. The selection itself follows the temperature and the metals. Copper-based compounds are the general workshop choice and are avoided where copper contamination is a concern, nickel-based grades suit higher temperatures and stainless assemblies, and the specific problem they solve on stainless is galling, where threads cold-weld and seize on the first assembly.
