This is the consumable and expendable end of drilling, workover and production support — the items a rig or a well site gets through rather than the equipment it is built from. Two things make sourcing it different from ordinary industrial supply. The first is that a great deal of it is specified against API product specifications, and where that is the case the specification number and the applicable monogram matter more than a description, because an item that merely resembles the right thing will not be accepted at the wellsite. The second is that lead time and location dominate. A rig consumes to a schedule and a stockout stops the job, so what is usually wanted is a call-off arrangement against a forecast rather than one-off orders. Send the item list with specifications, the consumption rate and the delivery point, and say which lines are critical enough to need a buffer held nearby.
