Rebar is bought against a bar bending schedule rather than by weight, and the schedule is what makes the order work. It lists every bar mark with its diameter, shape code, cutting length and bending dimensions, and it is what the yard cuts and bends to and what the steel fixer places on site — so sending tonnage alone produces straight bar and a bending problem. Two things belong alongside it. The grade, because a specified yield strength is not interchangeable and the mill certificate is what proves it. And the corrosion question, which in coastal Saudi construction is the one that decides the life of the structure: chloride in the environment and sometimes in the aggregate drives corrosion of embedded steel, which is why epoxy coated bar, galvanised bar or stainless bar appear in specifications for marine and exposed work, and why cover and concrete quality are part of the same conversation. Couplers should be settled with the schedule, not after it.
