For a new build sanitary ware is a selection exercise; for a refurbishment or a replacement it is a dimensional one, and that is where enquiries fail. A wall-hung WC is fixed to a carrier frame with set bolt centres, a close-coupled pan has a specific distance from the wall to the waste outlet, and a basin has fixed tap hole spacing and a defined mounting height. A replacement that differs by even a few centimetres means opening the wall or the floor, which turns a fixture swap into a builder's job. Send the existing dimensions, or a photograph with a tape in it, before choosing a model. Two further points specific to this market: fixtures are usually specified with a bidet spray or an integrated shattaf connection, so the extra supply point has to be there, and water efficiency requirements should be checked against the project specification since they affect flush volume and tap flow rates.
