Pads and rolls are the routine consumable of a workshop floor: laid under a leaking gland, wiped through a drip tray, taped down on a walkway where a hose passes overhead. Because they are bought by the case rather than specified, two mistakes repeat. The first is grade. Oil-only pads are hydrophobic and will float on water and keep taking oil, which is what you want in a wet bund or on a jetty; universal pads take everything including rainwater and saturate long before they have absorbed much of the oil. The second is weight. A light pad is cheaper per piece and more expensive per litre absorbed, and on a site that consumes cases a month the honest comparison is cost per litre held plus the disposal weight afterwards. Tell us the liquid, whether the surface is wet, and the annual volume rather than a single case.
The more of this you send, the closer the first quotation lands.
| Liquid absorbed | Oil only, universal, or chemical and aggressive liquids |
|---|---|
| Format | Cut pads, perforated roll, or continuous roll |
| Pad size | Sheet dimensions, or roll width and length |
| Weight or grade | Light, medium or heavy — affects litres held per piece |
| Bonding | Dimpled or laminated top layer resists tearing when lifted wet |
| Wet or dry surface | Standing water present decides oil-only versus universal |
| Surface use | Under equipment, in a tray, on a walkway, or as bench matting |
| Temperature limit | State if the liquid is hot at the point of leak |
| Static or hazardous area | State if an anti-static grade is required |
| Disposal route | Contaminated waste stream and any incineration requirement |
| Annual volume | Cases per year for a schedule price rather than a one-off |
