A spill kit is specified by the worst credible release at the place it is mounted, and the number that anchors it is simple: the largest single container or line volume that can be lost there. A workshop holding 200-litre drums and a tank farm loading road tankers are not served by the same kit even if both are called medium. The containment capacity is what buyers most often understate, and the failure shows up only during an incident, when a kit rated for 50 litres meets a drum that held 200. The second decision is the wheeled versus the carried format — a kit that lives 80 metres from the bund and weighs 40 kilograms will not arrive in time. Say what can be spilled and how much of it, name the liquid so the absorbent grade matches, and state whether the kit must include PPE, a drum for the used absorbent, and drain covers.
The more of this you send, the closer the first quotation lands.
| Worst credible spill | Largest container or line volume that can be lost at this point |
|---|---|
| Containment capacity | Litres the kit must absorb — state it, do not infer it from a size name |
| Liquid type | Oil only, universal, or chemical and aggressive liquids |
| Kit format | Wheeled bin, static drum, holdall, or vehicle kit |
| Distance to the risk | How far the kit is carried or wheeled to reach the spill |
| Contents mix | Pads, socks, pillows, granules — state the proportions if fixed |
| Drain protection | Drain covers or plugs to include |
| PPE included | Gloves, goggles, apron, boot covers — state your procedure |
| Waste containment | Disposal bags or a drum for the saturated absorbent |
| Refill availability | A matching refill pack, so the kit is restocked not replaced |
| Labelling language | Arabic, English or bilingual contents list and instructions |
| Quantity and locations | Kits, and the risk point each must cover |
