Direct level indication is bought by centre distance, and that single dimension is what most enquiries leave out. The gauge is a bridge between two vessel nozzles, so the visible range and the centre-to-centre distance between the connections have to be given together with the vessel rating; everything else is a consequence. The technology choice is genuinely consequential. A reflex or transparent glass gauge is simple, cheap and proven, and it exposes glass to the process, which is why it is restricted in high-pressure steam and disliked in toxic service. A magnetic level indicator keeps the process inside a sealed chamber and moves an external flag column, so nothing that can leak is in the operator's line of sight, and it accepts a switch or transmitter strapped to the outside. State the medium, the pressure and temperature, and whether the operator reads it or a control system does.
