Angle grinders cause more serious injuries than any other portable tool on a typical site, and the features that reduce that are worth specifying rather than accepting whatever the machine comes with. A paddle switch that must be held releases the moment the tool is dropped or snatched, unlike a latching slide switch that keeps a disc running across the floor. A kickback brake senses the sudden stall of a pinched disc and cuts the drive before the tool climbs out of the cut. A wheel brake stops a disc in a couple of seconds instead of coasting.
