Ball valves are the default choice for isolation duty: quarter-turn operation, tight shutoff and low pressure drop when full bore. Selection turns on three decisions that buyers often leave out of the enquiry — floating or trunnion mounted, full or reduced bore, and whether the service demands a fire-safe or sour-service certified design. Trunnion designs carry the ball on bearings and are normal above roughly 6 inch or in higher pressure classes, where a floating ball would need excessive operating torque.
The more of this you send, the closer the first quotation lands.
