Gate valves are isolation-only valves: fully open or fully closed, never throttled, because a partially open gate suffers seat erosion and disc vibration. They give a straight-through flow path with minimal pressure drop, which is why they remain standard on long pipeline runs and utility headers. The bonnet and stem arrangement matters as much as the body β rising stem gives a visible position indication, while a bolted bonnet is required where the valve must be maintainable in place.
The more of this you send, the closer the first quotation lands.
